Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed expressed his thanks to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his work in safeguarding the health of all in the Kingdom, and to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for his directive to grant two additional promotional steps in the civil service, or their equivalent, to first responders in the Kingdom.

Al Qaed said that the iGA and its dedicated frontline workforce, with the support of Minister of Interior, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, have followed the Crown Prince’s directives to deploy modern technologies in limiting the spread of the coronavirus pandemic by launching the BeAware Bahrain app. The app offers comprehensive digital services that help combat the pandemic, including registration and requests for the issuance of certificates for vaccinations, PCR test results, and more. BeAware Bahrain’s offerings provided support to the national taskforce and other entities combating the pandemic, allowing them to seamlessly carry out their operations.

Al Qaed highlighted the iGA team’s role in providing technical support to government entities to help them offer remote working options for employees, including videoconferencing and file sharing through apps such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Cisco Collaboration Solutions. In addition, the iGA provided them with Virtual Private Network Technologies (VPN), which allows employees to work from home and ensures their secure access to the government network.

Al Qaed said that the iGA, in line with the Cabinet’s directives to accelerate the pace of digital transformation during the pandemic, has launched a host of eServices aimed at improving the public’s quality of life, such as revamped ID cards for residents and a comprehensive suite of ID card and population register services, including issuance of birth certificates and services related to addresses, marriage and divorce contracts, and updating of personal details. These services and more were digitized in a short period of time and are all available via the National Portal, bahrain.bh and other iGA channels.

Al Qaed said that HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s continuous support is a source of encouragement for all to work together in overcoming the challenges of the pandemic.
