The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) presented an overview of an Advanced Endpoint Protection Solution at the 4th Cyber Hawks Meeting. The event was organized by iGA, represented by the Information Security Services Directorate. More than 70 IT specialists representing 51 governmental and semi-governmental entities attended the event.

iGA Vice Chief Executive for Operations and Governance, Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said that the meeting is in response to directives by the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT), chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister. The aim is to institute the use of modern technologies in addressing potential cyber security threats.

Shaikh Salman explained that the meeting is part of iGA’s plan to implement robust standards that will enhance the level of security in the government network by addressing the increasing levels of cyber threats faced by the Kingdom, adding that iGA constantly seeks to further enhance the security levels of the government’s IT infrastructure.

The meeting reviewed the framework for the advanced protection system planned for adoption by the government and its implementation plan, as well as the requirements and needs of different government entities, in order to pave the way for a smooth and rapid rollout. The meeting also reviewed a plan to train government employees on the use of the new system, and addressed participants’ enquiries.

The Cyber Hawks initiative allows each government entity to nominate employees to participate in the team in order to enhance coordination and cooperation among the different government entities, detect potential cyber security breaches in advance, and contain them as soon as possible.
