Interior Minister Stresses the Importance of Information Security

Minister of Interior H.E. Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah AlKhalifa patronized the 1st Information Security Forum ‘Thiqa’ (Trust) 2018 organized by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) at the Public Security Officers Club. Attendance included ministers, senior officials from public and private sectors together with more than 100 information security specialists from government entities.


On such occasion, His Excellency stressed the increasing importance of information security which has become one of the security challenges that must be dealt with locally and internationally. He also pointed out the need to continue with specialized training programs and utilization of the latest advanced technologies – enabling the strengthening of telecommunication and IT systems.

Information & eGovernment Authority CE Mr. Mohamed Ali AlQaed stated that in line with recommendation of the Supreme Committee for Information & Communication Technology (SCICT) chaired by H.H. Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak AlKhalifa, Deputy Prime Minister; the Authority adopted and utilized the latest technologies in providing online government services and implemented the national strategies approved by the committee including the Thiqa program initiative which trained capabilities of approximately 2,200 government employee.

Furthermore, he explained that iGA was able to prevent cyber-attack attempts which targeted to penetrate government systems. Security systems succeeded in efficiently addressing and blocking 168 million malicious emails in the first quarter of 2018.

Additionally, the Interior Minister honored ministers and representatives from 15 government entities for fulfilling advanced levels of the Trust Program.
