BD1.7 Million in Government Procurement Requests including Educational Portal Developments Discussed at 41st ICTGC Meeting

Strategic projects and government procurement requests valued at approximately BD1.7 million were discussed at the 41st Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee (ICTGC) meeting, chaired by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed and committee head.

The video conference reviewed procurement requests, most notably the Tender Board’s national procurement system which will provide comprehensive digital solutions to streamline procurement and tendering procedures, enabling real-time data exchanges with suppliers and faster communication between government entities. The project, which will put a mechanism in place to address enquiries of both government entities and suppliers, utilizes advanced technologies including AI and Big Data analytics to increase procurement efficiency.

The committee also discussed the latest developments of the educational portal, EDUNET. Committee member and Ministry of Education Assistant Undersecretary for Planning & Information Mrs. Nawal Ibrahim AlKhater revealed the results of a study of various solutions prepared in cooperation with the Information &eGovernment Authority (iGA) to meet the requirements of the next phase of the remote elearning program. The project aims to enhance the current educational portal by strengthening its cybersecurity and further developing its interactive features and technical capabilities to achieve full integration between its users. The committee expressed its appreciation for the Ministry and the iGA’s efforts in making this project a success, especially in light of the current circumstances.    

Committee Advisor, ICT consultant Dr. Ali AlSoufi, presented a summary of a strategic planning program implemented in government entities’ IT departments. The committee praised the accomplishments of the last few years, which had a major impact in improving government performance and enhancing communication between IT and other teams. This also allowed technical initiatives and projects related to essential business sectors to be carried out in accordance with the required quality levels and standards.
