Strategic projects and procurement requests by government entities valued at approximately BD5 million were discussed at the 39th Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee (ICTGC) meeting, chaired by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed.

On behalf of the committee, Al Qaed congratulated Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the National Cybersecurity Center. He praised his efforts as a committee member for the past several years and wished him the best in his future endeavors. The meeting also approved Dr. Khalid Almutawah as the iGA’s representative on the committee.

The committee reviewed procurement requests via video conference, including the development of smart device applications for the National Contact Center, which aims to streamline communication and coordination between public relations teams and various government entities.

The meeting also discussed the Real Estate Regulatory Authority’s (RERA) real estate data bank project, which is being implemented in cooperation with the iGA, and will provide a database of up to date, accurate, and publicly available real estate information. The project will serve relevant government organizations, investment and real estate firms, and decision makers. It will also entail the creation of a website utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies for data analysis and display of information.

The committee reviewed the Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning’s project to digitize traditional road maps and architectural drawings, turning them into advanced databases and models via Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Other topics covered included the updating and development of map systems at the Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB), an important part of the National 3D Mapping of Bahrain program.

The meeting covered a number of other procurement issues pertaining to the maintenance and support of important government systems at ministries and government entities to ensure their protection and continuity.

Al Qaed concluded the meeting by praising the efforts of the committee’s members and the continuous coordination among government entities.
