International Digital Twinning Milestones
Since 2008, the Kingdom of Bahrain has strengthen collaborations with international governments and entities such as the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and its Digital Government Branch to provide valuable platforms for dialogue, policy exchange, and benchmarking of innovative practices aiming at knowledge transfer and eGovernment development at global levels. This reflects the Kingdom’s openness to collaborative experimentation and replication of high-impact tools. Examples of these initiatives include:

2025
The Kingdom of Bahrain shares experience in Digital Transformation with Oman government.


2024
iGA Launches “Global Digital Twinning for eGovernment Excellence” -Bahrain pilot program with two countries - Tunisia and The Comoros Island.


2023
iGA hosted the 9th Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX), under the theme ‘Empowering Data Communities’. More than 500 participants from 107 countries attended the event, including data science experts, officials from regional and international institutions, statisticians, and data users from national, regional, and international organizations, as well as academia and the private sector.


2022
iGA shared knowledge and best practice with Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), in producing official statistics from administrative records.


2021
• Delegation from Saudi Arabia government approach Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) to learn about Covid-19 mobile app (BeAware), developed by iGA.


• iGA held another eGovernment Experts workshop in 2021 (PDF, 3.8MB, 87 pags), virtually, to provide vital inputs to improve eGovernment Development Indicators for the upcoming United Nations eGovernment Survey Report 2022.

• Bahrain shares eGovernment experience with Egyptian government Delegation.


• Bahrain shares eGovernment experience and digital infrastructure with Turkmenistan government delegation.


2018
Bahrain has signed MoU with Kuwait government to transfer the experience of Cloud adoption in public sector.

2015
• Based on the success of the UN Study Tour, the United Nations has re-selected Bahrain for a second Study Tour organized for another 14 countries (PDF, 4.6MB, 76 pages).
• The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) hosted high-level delegation containing 50 experts from the International Cooperation Network in the European Union to share experiences in the field of science and technology with the delegations participating in the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2015 in smart cities.

2014
The United Nations has selected the Kingdom of Bahrain for a UN Study Tour for 15 countries (PDF, 1.5MB, 33 pages). During this tour, fully funded by UN, Bahrain has provided intensive knowledge transfer to these countries and helped them in developing their eGovernment program.

2013
During the UN Public Service Forum 2013 (PDF, 3MB, 64 pages), hosted in Kingdom of Bahrain with more than 1000 participants from more than 100 countries, iGA has organized a workshop dedicated sharing best practices and projects in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in the fields of eGovernment and innovation.

2012
The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) initiated organizing a global workshop post the announcement of UN eGovernment Development Survey 2012. The eGovernment Experts Workshop 2012 aimed at fostering global advancement in digital government and discussing the challenges faced by countries in the UN Index standards. More than 17 countries, representing all regions of the world, were hosted in the Kingdom along with the main international agencies responsible for measuring these indicators. The recommendations were presented to the UN high-level expert group in New York and most of the recommendations were adopted. The UN has continued to take Bahrain’s initiative approach and engage Member States on the standards and updates of the UN report in the following years to date.

2011
Bahrain signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for eGovernance Program at Southeast Europe to transfer Bahrain's experience in the field of eGovernment through special training curricula to eGovernment employees in various Arab, European and African countries, in order to benefit from them in their eGovernment projects.

2010
Digital Twinning with Brunei Darussalam, focused on knowledge transfer, eGovernment strategical development, and eGovernment architecture development.
