The Technical Development Program (Batch 3)
In line with the Economic Recovery Plan and the Fiscal Balance Program under Bahrain’s Vision 2030, and in support of job seekers and fresh graduates in the Information Technology sector, the “Technical Development Program” was launched as one of the strategic initiatives aimed at developing, empowering, and showcasing Bahraini youth with technical university degrees who are seeking employment. The program targets individuals between the ages of 21 and 30 registered in the Unemployment Insurance System, to build a pool of skilled national talent aligned with labor market requirements, making them the preferred choice for employment.
This initiative, introduced by the Information & eGovernment Authority in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, contributes to sustainability, fairness, and competitiveness across both public and private sectors. It also supports greater efficiency in government spending by reducing direct costs through the termination of unnecessary external IT contracts, while simultaneously creating employment opportunities for qualified Bahraini professionals.
The program aspires to empower future generations to become globally recognized digital builders, capable of realizing Bahrain’s digital vision. It also aims to enhance national technical and creative capabilities by developing expertise in high-value modern technologies, fostering an environment of innovation and excellence, and providing internationally accredited professional certifications that further strengthen participants’ skills.
Participants benefit from intensive on-the-job training within the technical departments of the Information & eGovernment Authority, supported by a monthly salary, in addition to obtaining international professional certifications and opportunities to secure technical positions in either government or private entities upon program completion.
The first and second cohorts of the program have achieved tangible and positive results, with more than 143 graduates contributing to the implementation of over 10 digital and technical projects at the Authority. Notable projects include the “MyGov” application and eKey 2.0. Furthermore, participants obtained 295 internationally accredited professional certifications, and approximately 100 graduates have been successfully employed across both the public and private sectors.
