AlQaed Receives ESCWA to discuss Cooperation in IT

Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive Mr. Mohammed Ali AlQaed receives representatives of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) Dr. Haidar Fraihatb - Director of ICT Division - along with Regional Advisor at Technology for Development Division Dr. Mohamad Nawar AlAwa to discuss aspects of cooperation between iGA and UN-ESCWA in the IT field.


AlQaed stressed the importance of technology in promoting knowledge economy based on creativity and innovation while highlighting Authority’s keenness to continuously support eTransformation - keeping pace with the ambitious goals. The Chief Executive praised ESCWA’s role and contributions in raising the awareness level of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals which play a role in developing the countries’ economies, that affects positively on the living standards of citizens and provided services.

The Information & eGovernment Authority participated, during last week, at a workshop organized by the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) in collaboration with UNDP and ESCWA. The workshop aimed at promoting technology and innovation in the implementation of SDGs agenda as well as identifying the progress of Bahrain’s national strategies based on a knowledge-based economy.
