Dr. Zakareya: Major Growth in Utilizing eServices during 2018

Dr. Zakareya Ahmed AlKhajah, Acting Vice Chief Executive of eTransformation for Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), stated that the growing trend towards online transactions in the government sector is considered as an indicator on the success of the national eTransformation plans and strategies adopted by the government. He further indicated that the number of government transactions conducted via the eGovernment has exceeded 1.3 million transactions - achieving a growth of 32% in comparison to last year. Furthermore, online transactions exceeded BD1.2 million across all online channels to double in comparison to the previous year.

In this regard, such growth contributes to iGA series of initiatives which created direct impact on the positive results primarily due to continuous support and directions of the Supreme Committee for Information & Communication Technology (SCICT) chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak AlKhalifa, Deputy Prime Minister; along with the intensive follow-up of H.E. Lt. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla AlKhalifa, Minister of Interior. Moreover, commitments and efforts exerted by governmental entities in re-engineering their services which contributed in accelerating eTransformation, increasing utilization rates as well as targeting and developing important public services that meet the needs and satisfaction of citizens– most importantly, service via the National Portal Bahrain.bh and mobile applications. Dr. AlKhaja also highlighted the Change Management efforts with numerous public entities which had a huge impact in enhancing users experience and increasing efficiency as well as the quality of provided services, and as a result the users’ trust and satisfaction level were raised.

Dr. AlKhajah stated added that iGA has developed 40 comprehensive eServices during 2018 including the National Notifications System, Private Notary project, eShabab app, Real-estate Survey services, Identity Card revamped services along Issuance of traffic certificates. Over 370 services are currently available via various channels in addition to 12 mobile applications.

It is worth noting that Food Vehicle Inspection Appointment, Public Prosecution Services and Registration in Summer Clubs service had the most noticeable increase in usage through the national portal bahrain.bh during 2018.
