The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) hosted the 5th Cyber Hawks meeting, which was attended by more than 90 IT specialists from governmental and semi-governmental organizations. iGA Deputy Chief Executive, Operations & Governance Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said that the meeting reiterates the importance of cybersecurity, one of the main pillars of the government’s IT program. Cybersecurity is vital for achieving the iGA’s strategic goal of creating a safe online environment and  minimizing  cyber  threats through coordination among government institutions, while at the same time improving public awareness of these efforts.
The meeting is in line with the iGA’s continued efforts to optimize security by encouraging government agencies to coordinate and adopt of the latest technologies, and using them to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of government services. 
The meeting reviewed the central security system used to monitor operations, which is implemented throughout the government network. The system helps collect data, analyze it, and highlight for extraction critical bits of information which can be used to identify and promptly deal with cyber security threats.
Participants reviewed a number of security incidents and the precautionary efforts taken by iGA to address them in line with its objective of enhancing the overall security culture of government institutions. The meeting also highlighted the LogRhythic IT security system and the technical solutions it offers. Participants reviewed cloud computing security solutions made available in 2019 and studied others expected to be successfully implemented in 2020.
The Cyber Hawks initiative is in line with efforts by iGA to enhance the security levels of government infrastructure, systems, and e-government services. It was launched in implementation of a government action plain aimed at raising the level of IT security within the Kingdom’s government sector.
