Al Qaed Chairs 2nd Meeting of National Committee for Geospatial Information Governance

Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed chaired the 2nd meeting of the National Committee for Geospatial Information Governance to discuss developments related to committee’s agenda and major government initiatives.

The committee was attended by committee members Dr. Mohammed Ebrahim Al Aseeri CEO National Space Science Agency (NSSA)  ; Urban Planning and Development Authority CEO, Nouf Jamsheer; Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) Survey Director General, Eng. Naji Sabt; Electricity &  Water Authority (EWA) Planning and Projects Deputy CEO, Ibrahim Al Kaabi; Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Assistant Under-Secretary for Resources and Information Mohammed Adel Bu Hassan; and Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Governance and Enterprise Architecture Director Dr. Khalid Ahmed Al Mutawa along with other participants.

Al Qaed welcomed the committee members and thanked them for their efforts. The committee discussed a number of items, reviewing the progress of its members’ tasks. The iGA presented three initiatives related to the development of unified standards for graphics, which aim to lower the cost of the inclusion and conversion of graphics, as well as improve their accuracy and ease of use with engineering files.

The committee also reviewed the unification of the spatial segmentation of roads with the Roads Planning and Design Directorate to accelerate implementation. Dr. Al Aseeri discussed feeding agricultural data into the national geospatial database, and the need to utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support the agricultural sector.

The members also discussed the SLRB technical team’s National Aerial Photography Program and its latest developments, an initiative for the development of a monitoring network for national construction and engineering sites, and the unification of Trial Manhole  projects, as well as the best possible methods of cooperation between entities to implement it. The committee ordered the formation of a specialized technical team to discuss the options presented by the members.

Al Qaed emphasized the importance of reviewing current initiatives and studying the need for introducing new ones to improve the quality of government services offered to citizens and residents. He expressed his hope for continued cooperation and coordination between the various government entities, and their best efforts in accomplishing their tasks in the service of the country.
