Bahrain exports BD684 Million Worth of Products of National Origins during Q1 2021

The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) issued its foreign trade report of Firstquarter2021, encompassing data on the balance of trade, imports, exports (national origin), and re-exports.

The value of imports increased by 3%, reaching BD1.312billion during first quarter2021compared to BD1.272billion for the same quarter the previous year. The top 10 countries accounted for 72% of the value of imports, with the remaining countries accounting for 28%.

According to the report, Brazil ranked first when it came to imports to Bahrain, with a total ofBD175million,Chinawas second with BD162million, and the United Arab Emirates was third with BD102million.

Non-agglomerated iron ores and concentrates emerged as the top product imported into Bahrain with a total value ofBD169million, while Aluminum oxide was second withBD93million, and four-wheel drive carsthirdwithBD49million.

The value of exports of national origin increased by 18% to BD684million during first quarter2021,compared to BD580million for the same quarter of the previous year. The top 10 countries in terms of the value of exports of national origin purchased from Bahrain accounted for 80% of the total value, with the remaining countries accounting for 20%.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranked first among countries receiving Bahraini exports of national origin, importing BD153millionfrom Bahrain. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates was second with BD76million and United States of America third with BD71million.

Agglomerated iron ores and concentrates emerged as the top products exported during first quarter2021 with BD150million,Unwrought aluminum alloys was second with a value of BD106million, and aluminum wires (not alloyed)third with BD42 million.

The total value of-exports decreased by20% to reach BD185million first quarter2021,compared to BD233million for the same quarter of the previous year. The top 10 countries accounted for 89% of the re-exported value, while the remaining countries accounted for the 11%.TheUnited Arab Emirates ranked first with BD61million,theKingdom of Saudi Arabia second with BD49million, and Sultanate of Oman third with BD19million.

four-wheel drive cars emerged as the top product re-exported from Bahrain with BD26million, agglomerated iron ores and concentrates came in second place with BD22million, and apparatus for electrical control came thirdwithBD13million.

The trade balance, the difference between exports and imports, recorded a deficit totaling BD442 million during first quarter 2021 compared to BD460 million for the same quarter of the previous year, an improvement of the trade balance by 4%.
