BD3.5m in Procurement Requests Discussed at 59th ICT Governance Committee Meeting

Procurement requests by government entities were discussed at the 59th Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee videoconference meeting, chaired by Mr. Mohamed Ali Al-Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA).

AlQaed welcomed the attendees, thanking them for their continuous contributions. The Committee covered a range of topics, including a project of Renewable Energy Certificate Platform, which aims to facilitate the procedure of issuing certificates utilizing (Blockchain) technology to enhance protection and  transparency of certificates circulating through the platform. This comes within the framework of the National Renewable Energy Plan, which aims to make the Kingdom of Bahrain a center of excellence for sustainable energy and encourage the production of renewable energy, which contributes to reducing associated carbon emissions.

The committee highlighted iGA’s Technology Infrastructure Development Project, through which modern technologies will be adopted to build Virtual cloud to power government systems and applications based on cloud computing services. This increases efficiency, improves information security, and reduces the administrative and financial burdens of managing and operating the data center.

The committee also discussed the  UOB Wireless Network Infrastructure Upgrade project, through which network devices will be upgraded at the university and expanded coverage to more facilities such as classrooms, administrative offices, libraries, and open areas to improve the educational and academic experience by providing mobility and connectivity.
The Committee reviewed the implementation of the decisions from previous meetings and concluded its meeting highlighting the most significant achievements during the past year.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed Chief Executive of Information & eGovernment Authority, and in attendance were Ministry of Education Undersecretary for Policies, Strategies, and Performance, Nawal Al Khater; Ministry of Health Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health, Dr. Maryam Ibrahim Al-Hajri; iGA Deputy CE of Operations and Governance, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Almutawa; ; Ministry of Finance and National Economy Director of Financial Systems Development, Abdullah Ahmed Dhaif; Economic Development Board (EDB) Director of Corporate Services, Linda Mohammed Janahi; Director of Services and Information Systems at Prime Minister Office, Ahmed Al-Qayyim; and Information Technology Project Management Consultant, Dr. Ali AlSoufi. Also present were the committee’s support team.
