Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority Chairs First Equal Opportunities Committee Meeting and Reviews its Future Initiatives

The Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), Mr. Mohamed Ali Al Qaed chaired the first meeting of the Equal Opportunities Committee for the year 2025, following the decision of restructuring the committee. The meeting aimed to review and discuss the committee's upcoming initiatives.

At the outset of the meeting, Al Qaed welcomed the members and praised their continuous efforts and initiatives that have significantly contributed to empowering women within the iGA. He also extended his sincere appreciation to Mrs. Duaa Sultan, Deputy Chief Executive of Statistics and Population Registry for her role in chairing the previous round of the Equal Opportunities Committee in iGA.

During the meeting, Mr. Al Qaed reviewed with the committee members various items on the agenda, highlighting the vital role of the Equal Opportunities Committee and its alignment with Bahrain’s leadership vision and aspirations. The members also stressed on the committee's positive contributions in supporting the objectives of the Supreme Council for Women, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King of Bahrain, President of the Supreme Council for Women.
The discussions also focused on mechanisms to further accommodate the needs of female employees and their families within the iGA, including offering training programs, empowering women to attain leadership roles through capacity building, and providing support that enables female employees to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Al Qaed also explored with the members the committee’s role in promoting justice, equality, and gender balance, emphasizing the importance of supporting working women in their roles within the family, thereby contributing to family stability. The discussions also stressed on the need to sustain women’s constitutional rights and support the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women.

The meeting also included discussions of the Committee’s 2024–2025 action plan and a review of the key accomplishments achieved during 2024.

In conclusion, the Committee Chairman Mr. Al Qaed reiterated his appreciation to the members and affirmed that this meeting reflects the iGA’s commitment to fostering equal opportunities and supporting women in the workplace and society in general, looking forward for the committee’s further successes through its initiatives.
