Five eServices were launched as part of the first phase of the Ministry of Housing’s digital transformation plan in a joint collaboration with the Information & eGovernment Authority. This was announced by the Minister of Housing, HE Eng. Bassim bin Yacoub Al-Hamar, which include applying for housing requests, housing application status inquiries, updating of contact and bank IBAN details, and applying for Mazaya and other financing loan requests. The services are all available via the National Portal
bahrain.bh. The launch, held via video conference, was attended by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Ministry of Housing Undersecretary, Shaikh Khalid bin Hmoud Al Khalifa, iGA Deputy Chief Executive of Electronic Transformation, Dr. Zakareya Ahmed AlKhajah, and Ministry of Housing Assistant Undersecretary, Dr. Khalid Al Haidan.
HE the Minister stated that the launch is in line with the HM the King’s vision for the digital transformation of the public sector and its deployment of modern technologies to help improve the quality of government services and systems, while contributing towards sustainable development. The services also implement the Cabinet’s directives to accelerate the digital transformation of services offered to citizens and residents.
HE the Minister also stated that they are in line with the 2nd edition of the Unified Framework of Government Programs, as eServices are being improved to streamline procedures for beneficiaries. The bulk of the ministry’s digital transformation plan is expected to be completed by the middle of this year, leaving some eServices to be added, such as electronic management and contracts. The ministry will then roll out its plan for incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its online offerings.
HE the Minister expressed his gratitude to the Information & eGovernment Authority for its cooperation, which is set to continue in future phases of the digital transformation of housing eServices. The launch is meant to streamline the ministry’s processing of the approximately 45,000 transactions it receives every year.
Mr. Mohamed Al Qaed thanked the Minister and his team for their continuous cooperation, adding that these services play an important role in improving the public’s quality of life, allowing them to submit their requests quickly and efficiently. He credited the ongoing digital transformation with helping the ministry to control expenses and adapt to the conditions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, including eliminating the need for physical visits to service centers and supporting social distancing and other health and safety measures.
Dr Zakariya AlKhajah delivered a detailed presentation on the new services, which was followed by the Minister’s official announcement, where he reaffirmed the intent to benefit the widest possible segments of society, and continue working the Information & eGovernment Authority to complete the digital transformation process.
