iGA CE announces the Launch of the Technical Development Program

The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) organized an induction meeting for 80 trainees who have been accepted in the Technical Development Program. The program is one of the national strategic initiatives that reflect the government’s vision towards developing the ICT skills of Bahraini graduates and job seekers, strengthening their favorability as the first choice of employment in the public and private sectors.
Throughout the 3-years of the program, 240 Bahraini graduates between the ages of 21 and 30 and are registered in the National Employment Program with the Ministry of Labor, will be enrolled into the program in batches to receive extensive on-job training by the iGA. The trainees will receive monthly wages supported by the Ministry of Labor throughout the training period, in addition to injecting their skills and capabilities with certified professional certificates in cooperation with internationally accredited institutes. The induction took place on Sunday, March 19th, 2023, at iGA premises in Al Barasha Building- Muharraq.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed, Chief Executive of iGA and in presence of senior management members in the eTransformation as well as Operations & Governance sectors within iGA where the training program will be implemented.
At the beginning of the induction, Mr. AlQaed announced the launch of the on-job training phase for the first batch and expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for the support extended to this program, and to His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communications Technology for his directives that have contributed to the timely launch of the training program.
The iGA Chief Executive also expressed thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Labor, H.E Mr. Jameel bin Mohamed Humaidan, as well as the Ministry’s team, for their efforts in the successful roll-out of the program.
Moreover, Mr. AlQaed welcomed the joining trainees and congratulated them for passing the admission phase wishing them all success in the tasks and assignments they will be engaging in during the program from 19th March 2023 To 18th March 2024.
Al Qaeed stressed that this program comes in line with the continuous growth of the labor market especially in the AI and IT arena, pointing that requires the preparation of qualified national skills to fill these new jobs. He highlighted the importance of the program in refining and developing skills in order to facilitate their integration into the labor market in the future.
AlQaed also added that this initiative contributes to the Government’s strategies and priorities set in the Government Program and the Economic Recovery Plan, specifically the Telecommunications, IT and Digital Economy Strategy (2022-2026).
He stressed that the selection of the first batch was based on their excellence and knowledge in ICT and digital transformation fields, pointing out that the public and private sectors in the Kingdom need distinguished and creative candidates to contribute to the advancement of the ICT sector, and to enhance the quality of government services for all citizens and residents.
AlQaed also encouraged the trainees to work hard towards upgrading their knowledge and skills and to take advantage of this experience, pointing out that iGA has graduated many national competencies throughout the past years, who today play leading roles with high-level positions in ministries and government entities.
Moreover, the Training & Development team at iGA provided the trainees an introductory overview of the Technical Development Program, its objectives and the tasks that they are assigned to during the training period. The selected trainees were divided to work in the Operations and Governance Sector team (44 trainees) and the Digital Transformation Sector team (36 trainees).
Following that, the concerned team at each sector has showcased a general explanation of the tasks and role of the respective sector and the work they will be assigned to.
