Dr. Khalid Al Mutawah: 200+ government employees completed Cloud Training Program and work is on-going to complete 600 government employees training.

The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), in partnership with Microsoft has conducted a capacity-building training program to train employees from the governmental entities on Microsoft cloud computing services, which was launched in February 2022. This came as part of the existing agreement between iGA and Microsoft as one of the cloud-technology leaders. The training program aims at improving the efficiency of the national ICT skills in cloud services in line with the national strategic directions.

 iGA Deputy CE of Operations and Governance, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Almutawa; praised the cooperation with Microsoft in completing the training of more than 200 governmental employees during the year 2022. He stressed that investing in the development of Kingdom of Bahrain’s national competencies is one of the most important priorities at this stage. He reaffirmed that the ultimate benefit is to upscale the employees skills with knowledge and professional certificates which, eventually, will be reflected on the quality of public service delivery.

Dr. Al Mutawah explained that this program is in line with the “Cloud First” policy released in 2017 aiming at redirecting ICT investment towards Cloud Computing solutions, noting iGA’s commitment to support the public sector in accelerating the digital transformation of the public services provided high quality services to the citizens and residents.

The  iGA Deputy CE of Operations and Governance added that the iGA, in cooperation with Microsoft, will continue to complete the implementation of the program plan and complete the rest of the training phases during to reach 600 employees by the end of 2024. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to all stakeholders and government employees who have contributed in the success of this program.

For his part, Microsoft Bahrain and Oman Country Manager Shaikh Saif Hilal Al Hosni said “As the Kingdom of Bahrain is accelerating its cloud adoption, promoting a tech-intensity culture, and accelerating the government sector’s digital transformation, we stand ready to supporting iGA in their efforts to build the digital capabilities of the government’s employees and provide them the right skill sets to innovate advanced services to the public.” He added “At Microsoft, we encourage lifelong learning, skilling and upskilling of the workforce to fill professional gaps and ensure wholesome digital and economic transformation for Bahrain in line with its “Cloud First” policy.

The Authority continues to work on refining national and specialized skills in the computing field, which comes among its priorities to train competencies in the public and private sectors because of the effects of this technology represented in rationalizing expenses, encouraging innovation, enhancing flexibility and other advantages that are reflected in the value of the services provided.
