Procurement requests by government entities valued at approximately BD2 million were discussed at the fourth meeting of the ICT Governance Committee’s (ICTGC) third term. Chaired by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Deputy Chief Executive for Operations & Governance, Dr. Khalid Almutawa, the meeting took place via videoconference and reviewed several government projects and procurement requests submitted by various entities.

During the meeting, the Committee reviewed several requests including a specialized laboratory for the Bahrain Genome Project, which aims to automate the management of samples and genetic data through an advanced Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The new system is expected to raise the efficiency of genomic analysis by improving sample tracking, streamlining workflows, and enhancing integration among laboratories, researchers, and physicians. It will also connect with testing equipment and bioinformatics tools while strengthening data quality and security.

The Committee also discussed a Fixed Asset System for the Ministry of Education. The project seeks to enhance the Ministry’s asset management capabilities through a centralized digital system that addresses challenges associated with manual processes, improves accuracy in tracking and reporting, and supports better planning and maintenance.

In addition, the ICTGC reviewed two projects submitted by the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf. The first is a Call Center aimed at improving communication channels with MOJ customers and enhancing the efficiency of processing their requests and feedback. The second is an Surveillance Cameras and Control Room Infrastructure Upgrade to strengthen the security of all stakeholders across the Ministry’s facilities. The project is expected to improve overall security and reduce incidents through proactive monitoring, faster response times, and better incident tracking.

The meeting further covered a range of development, maintenance, and support projects related to information systems and IT infrastructure at several government entities. These efforts are aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of IT services and ensuring operational readiness and business continuity.

At the end of the meeting, the committee reviewed the implementation of decisions made during prior meetings and the progress of ongoing work.
