iGA Honored at Awal Women Society’s Golden Jubilee Ceremony

The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) was honoured at Awal Women Society’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in recognition for its continuous support to the Society. The ceremony was held under the patronage of the Minister of Labor and Social Development, HE Jameel Bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, and attended by iGA Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, other officials and civil society representatives.

Al Qaed said that the award highlights the important role civil society organizations play in the adoption of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in operations and management. The iGA is proud to provide the society its support to help strengthen its contributions to the community.

Al Qaed highlighted Awal’s rich history and achievements in supporting women, including its role as a pioneer in the empowerment of Bahraini women, as it was the first women’s society to open in Muharraq and the third in the Kingdom of Bahrain. These Golden Jubilee celebrations cement that reputation.

The iGA provides technical support to entities across all sectors, in line with the Kingdoms’ comprehensive digital transformation, to ensure that key organizations are at similar levels of digitization.

AlQaed pointed the cooperation contributed through the (Qudorat) training program aimed at improving the ICT skills among all society’s segments. Noting the development of Awal’s Information Technology Center, and support with the computers and equipment, which served about 600 women.

Awal Women Society offers a range of social, economic, developmental, and charity activities and programs, and is an important contributor to the work of women in civil society in Bahrain.
