In line with its efforts to promote digital culture among families in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) reminds newlyweds and those who are about to get married to make use of a bundle of eServices related to Marriage and after marriage available on the National Portal, bahrain.bh and the eGovernment Apps Store bahrain.bh/apps. The eServices help streamline marriage information and procedures, eliminating the need to visit government service centers in-person.

For those about to get engaged make use of the Authorized Marriage official Directory list available which helps you choose based on governate with contact details.

Provided by the iGA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs & Awqaf, the ‘Authorized Marriage Official Directory’ allows access to a list of marriage officials and judges specializing in registering marriage contracts. Once a name or area are entered, the browser will automatically display the person’s contact information. The ‘Marriage Contract Terms and Conditions’ eService provides information on required documents, and ‘Request Marriage Contract Notarization’ allows electronic verification of personal details by relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Health and the iGA’s Population Registry, helping speed up the process.

Other services that can be helpful to newly married couples include updating the ID personal details following the finalization of the marriage contract, which can be done via ‘Update Civil Record Details’, available as part of the ID Card eServices. They can also use ‘Address Services’ to update the residence address listed in their ID cards, which is important and iGA advises to conduct as many addresses are linked to government services such as electricity and water, municipalities, education, health, and others.

Having up-to-date addresses ensures that government entities continue to provide these services efficiently. Once their details are updated online, they can avail of support services offered by the government such as housing, subsidies for electricity and water through “Service Reconnection Request” & “Move-in Request” eServices, meat, and allowances.

The iGA invites the public to register for the Government Notifications Service available on the National Portal, which allows individuals to receive the latest alerts and notifications sent by government service entities in relation to transactions instantly via SMS or email, including notifications from the Ministry of Housing for housing services.

In case the newlyweds decide to rent of a residence, whether for an apartment or a house, families can use the ‘Lease Contract Services’, available as part of other rent eServices on the Portal which is essential for registering the lease contract and for other government services such as re-connecting EWA service to the residence. They can also view previously registered contracts to ensure all rights remain protected in case of any future disputes between the tenant and the landlord.

Newlyweds wishing to travel can download the 'Wejhaty’ app available via bahrain.bh/apps and avail of other eServices such as registering their flight, finding information on the Kingdom’s embassies, and more.

The iGA extends its best wishes to the newlyweds and those who are about to embark on a life of marital bliss. For more information or enquiries on the marriage eServices and other apps provided by the iGA, citizens and residents can submit their suggestions and feedback via the National Suggestion and Complaint System (Tawasul), the Tawasul app, or the Government Services Contact Center on 80008001.
