eKey 2.0 wins the Digital Identity Innovation Award at Bahrain Smart Cities Summit 2026

The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed affirmed that the recognition of eKey 2.0 project with the Digital Identity Innovation Award at the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit 2026 reflects the Kingdom's continuous efforts to enhance user experience and improve the quality of digital services through delivering integrated government services that meet the highest efficiency and excellence standards, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Mr. Al Qaed expressed his pride in this achievement, emphasizing that the Award reflects the advanced technological maturity achieved by the eKey 2.0 and its contribution to enhancing secure digital access to both government and private sector services. He noted that the revamped eKey 2.0 system provides advanced features and capabilities that enable users to complete their transactions within a highly secure and privacy-focused digital environment.

The Chief Executive further noted that this achievement comes with the support of HE General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology, and his continuous follow-up of every stage of the launch and development of the eKey 2.0 system. The project, which is developed by the iGA  in partnership with Beyon Connect, has been implemented in accordance with international best practices to fulfil the Government's aspirations while serving individuals, government entities, and the business sector across the Kingdom.

Al Qaed congratulated all team members involved in the eKey 2.0 project, affirming the iGA commitment to continuously enhancing the system and leveraging the latest technologies to further advance digital services and systems, in support of Bahrain's digital transformation journey.

In parallel  , the iGA is participating in the exhibition organized alongside with the summit, showcasing its latest digital initiatives and projects, along with its key digital services and channels focusing on the  the latest updates to the unified government application for individuals, MyGov App, , which currently include 111 government services and features delivered by 15 government entities. In addition, the enhanced eKey 2.0 app as one of the Kingdom's national solutions for secure and unified access to digital services through the MyGov app and the National Portal (bahrain.bh).

The iGA is also showcasing its efforts in implementing the "Water Heritage Mapping Environmental Sustainability" project in partnership with relevant entities, highlighting its contribution to supporting tourism and the national economy.

The Bahrain Smart Cities Summit is one of the Kingdom's leading annual technology events, attracting broad participation from various organizations. The summit also recognizes outstanding innovative solutions and best practices that contribute to advancing smart cities, enhancing urban quality of life, improving resource management efficiency, and supporting sustainability efforts.
