Government procurement requests valued at BD3 Million discussed at 5th meeting of ICT Governance Committee’s 3rd term

Procurement requests by government entities valued at approximately BD3 million were discussed at the fifth meeting of the ICT Governance Committee’s (ICTGC) third term. The event was chaired by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, and held via video conference.

The Committee reviewed a number of agenda items, including the Public Prosecution’s digital forensic laboratory project, which forms part of the Public Prosecution’s efforts to strengthen the legal system and keep pace with rapid technological advancements. It aims to establish an integrated digital forensic laboratory for the efficient management and analysis of digital investigations, supported by advanced technologies that leverage artificial intelligence to enhance efficiency and strengthen the reliability of digital forensics in line with the highest international standards.

The Committee also discussed the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ Unmanned Aircraft (Drone) Traffic Management Platform, which aims to automate and improve all services related to unmanned aircraft. This includes licensing procedures as well as the tracking and monitoring of flight operations, which will improve regulation efficiency and result in higher levels of safety for drone use in the Kingdom.

The meeting also covered the upgrade of the National Revenue System to cover excise tax requirements. The project seeks to improve licensing, billing, and auditing processes, simplify procedures for system users, and strengthen monitoring tools, in support of financial sustainability and digital transformation in the Kingdom.

The committee members addressed a number of projects and procurement requests related to the development and ongoing support of information systems at various government entities, which are aimed at enhancing the quality and efficiency of IT services and ensuring business continuity. At the end of the meeting, the committee reviewed the implementation of decisions made during prior meetings and discussed the progress of ongoing work.

The meeting was attended by iGA Deputy Chief Executive of Operations and Governance and Committee Vice Chairman, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Almutawa; Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Nawal Ibrahim Al Khater; Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Information at the Ministry of Finance & National Economy, Eng. Noora Hassan Al-Assam; Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Samya Ali Bahram; and Dean of the College of Information Technology at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Mazen Mohammed Ali; in addition to the ICT Governance Committee’s support team.
