ICT Governance Committee Reviews BHD 4 Million in Government Procurement Requests

The ICT Governance Committee (ICTGC) held the third meeting of its third term virtually. Chaired by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, the committee reviewed projects and government procurement requests valued at approximately BHD 4 million.

Al Qaed thanked the committee members for their dedication, highlighting the committee’s role in streamlining government digital projects and advancing the Kingdom’s digital transformation. He stressed the continuous development of ICT systems and enhancement of operational efficiency to achieve national digital transformation goals.

The committee discussed key item on its agenda, including the Ministry of Education’s comprehensive e-learning platform, which is aimed at advancing digital transformation in education. The project will provide an interactive and smart learning environment in line with international best practices. It will utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support education management, including exams auto-generation using stored questions in data banks and learning materials. It will also utilize AI for designing interactive educational activities based on gamification features. The platform will provide advanced analytics, interactive dashboards and insights for performance management to support data-driven decision-making. Fully compatible with smartphones and tablets, it will support virtual classrooms, integrate with remote meeting platforms, enhance user experience, and ensure the education continuity based on  the highest standards in the field of e-learning.

The committee also discussed the National Health Regulatory Authority’s (NHRA) project for Medical Devices and Supplies Control Automation, which is to be implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The project aims to create an integrated digital platform that automates and standardizes regulatory processes for the supply, registration, and licensing of medical devices and equipment. It will streamline procedures, enhance efficiency, reduce human error, and strengthen control and transparency.

The ICTGC also reviewed the Ministry of Health’s Digital Transformation Strategy for Public Health, which outlines a roadmap for developing health services using advanced technologies and AI. The strategy aims to improve service quality, enhance operational efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making, advancing digital transformation and ensuring sustainable health services.

In addition, several projects and procurement requests for maintaining IT systems and infrastructure across government entities have been addressed by the committee, aiming to improve IT service quality and operational continuity.

The committee also reviewed progress in implementing the decisions approved during previous meetings.
