The session brought together specialists from both sides, during which iGA shared the Kingdom of Bahrain’s experience in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) governance, including the mechanisms for managing, reviewing, and approving government IT projects and procurements. The session provided an opportunity to share Bahrain’s expertise and successful practices in advancing digital government.
Discussions also covered the established frameworks for governing and managing government IT projects, ensuring their alignment with government priorities, maximizing the value of technology investments and resources, and reducing redundancy through enhanced utilization of shared government services.
The session forms part of the areas of cooperation outlined in the MoU between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Union of the Comoros, which include the exchange of technical and advisory expertise, capacity-building initiatives, and the organization of training programs, workshops, and mutual visits. These efforts support the Union of the Comoros in advancing its digital government ecosystem and improving its performance in the United Nations eGovernment Development Index (EGDI).
The first session marks a practical step towards activating the MoU and the turning the areas of cooperation between the two sides into programs for knowledge and experience exchange and capacity building in eGovernment and digital transformation.
It is worth mentioning that the Global Digital Twinning Initiative for eGovernment Excellence, launched by the Kingdom of Bahrain in December 2024 in cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), is one of Bahrain’s strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening international cooperation and facilitating the exchange of expertise and successful practices in digital government.
