IT Procurement Requests Worth BD15 Million Discussed at 66th ICT Governance Committee Meeting

The Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee (ICTGC) held its 66th meeting virtually in which the committee discussed number of procurement requests and projects related to government entities. The meeting was chaired by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed.
During the meeting, Al Qaed welcomed the committee members, thanking them for their contributions. The meeting covered items on the agenda including the Government Systems and Applications Portfolio project by iGA, a comprehensive repository of all systems and application details including their technological infrastructure and associated financial costs. The project will help decision-makers formulate IT strategies, present new opportunities for enterprise agreements, aid in cost-reduction negotiations, and contribute to planning and designing training programs suitable for IT specialists.
Also discussed was the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ electronic archiving system, which aims to digitize documents and store them online for easy access. The initiative will speed up document search and browsing, enhance security, and protect documents from loss or damage via backups, encryption, and access management.
The meeting covered the renovation of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Salmaniya Medical Complex, which includes refreshing the unit’s technological infrastructure and data network to streamline access to health systems and improve patients’ experience.
Operational procurements related to the maintenance and support of government systems and applications were also covered, including ways to enhance their efficiency while reducing operational expenses. Implemented decisions from previous meetings were also reviewed.
In attendance were Ministry of Education Undersecretary for Policies, Strategies, and Performance, Nawal Al Khater; Deputy CE of Operations and Governance, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Almutawa; Ministry of Finance and National Economy Director of Financial Systems Development, Abdullah Ahmed Dhaif; University of Bahrain Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr.
Hessa Jassim Al Junaid; and Director of Services & Information Technology at the Office of the Prime Minister, Ahmed Abdulnabi Al Qayem. Dr. Ali Al-Soufi, the Information Technology Advisor, and the supporting team of the Information and Communications Technology Governance Committee were also present.
